Spur Gears

Lamond and Murray manufacture Spur Gears up to 2.5 metres in diameter. Many are cut on our range of gear hobbing machines (see helical gears), others cut on on Sunderland Gear Planing machines. Often they are induction hardened, tooth by tooth, or case hardened and then ground on our Gleason Pfauter profile grinding machines.

Applications vary from a small simple gear for say a printing machine where the turn round is typically 2-3 days. Alternatively Lamond and Murray have experience of designin and manufacturing large pinions for winch, crane and other safety critical applications.
